DLF Begins Building Rs 2,200 Crore Shopping Mall in Gurugram

DLF, one of the leading companies in the real estate industry has invested Rs.2200 Crore to construct a new shopping mall in Gurgaon. It’s a part of their expansion strategy amid a rebound in retail consumption post-COVID-19 pandemic.

DLF’s Vice Chairman and MD (Rental Business) Sriram Khattar told PTI in a CII conference on the real estate sector “We have started construction work of ‘Mall of India’ in Gurugram and the total size of this mall is 26-27 lakh square feet”.

Speaking on the retail sector, he said that the sector has seen a strong growth post-COVID pandemic in footfalls and shopping mall sales.

Also, DLF is about to construct a premium mall in Goa of approximately 6 lakh square feet. It has also focused on developing high-street shopping centers near its housing projects to cater to the requirements of people living around them.

Furthermore, DLF already has an ongoing construction of shopping centers at DLF Phase 5, Gurugram and Moti Nagar, Delhi.

Addressing the event, Khattar said, “In the next 18 months, a mall in Goa and two shopping centers at Gurugram and Delhi will become operational”.

Other than this, DLF Group is currently engaged in the development business and the sale of residential and commercial properties. DLF has developed more than 158 real estate projects covering an area of 340 million square feet to date.
